Welcome to our Thurston Young Professionals Business Spotlight, where we highlight local leaders making an impact in Thurston County.
This month, we’re proud to feature Symone Parker, Operations Manager at Capital Injury Law, a firm dedicated to advocating for clients with compassion and integrity.
Q&A with Symone Parker
1. What’s your favorite part about what you do—and why?
Symone loves being the person her coworkers can count on. As Operations Manager, her role revolves around problem-solving and supporting her team. She finds fulfillment in helping others shine, turning obstacles into opportunities, and creating an environment where everyone feels valued.
2. Tell us about your company and what makes it unique.
Capital Injury Law is a personal injury firm specializing in cases involving someone else’s negligence—car accidents, dog bites, truck accidents, slip-and-fall incidents, and wrongful death. What sets the firm apart is its open-door policy and commitment to accessibility. Clients have direct access to leadership, attorneys, and managers, ensuring they always feel seen and heard.
3. Outside of work, what are some of your interests or hobbies?
Symone is a deeply creative person who spends most of her free time making art. Her goal this year was to “create more than consume,” and she’s achieved that through chalkboard and acrylic art, typography, and graphic design. She also dances three times a week, taking NFL-style cheer classes with jazz and pom-pom choreography. For Symone, art is life, and maintaining work-life balance is essential—especially in a role that often stretches beyond a traditional 9-to-5 schedule.
4. Describe your role and what a typical day looks like for you.
Her day is all about connection and solutions—meeting with team members, streamlining processes, and maintaining relationships. Symone manages four people directly but collaborates with a team of 15. Community engagement and operational efficiency are key parts of her work.
5. What inspires you in your work?
Symone’s guiding principle is simple: be a good human being. She strives to show up intentionally for others and hopes to be remembered for the way she helps people. Staying grounded through her passions keeps her focused and fulfilled.
6. What’s something surprising or little-known about you or your business?
Personally, Symone has lived in four states and worked a variety of jobs. She even walked away from her first leadership role because she wasn’t prepared for success—a decision that shaped her growth. Professionally, Capital Injury Law offers more than legal representation, including assistance with Social Security claims, workers’ comp, notary services, and referrals.
7. What advice would you give to other young professionals or entrepreneurs?
“Motivation won’t come—you have to rely on discipline. Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Take action now, show up, and be the best version of yourself.”
8. What partnerships or mentors have been most impactful for you?
Symone credits mentors Laura and Jeff, business owners in Arizona, for teaching her to move with intention and take control of her life. Their guidance helped her develop the drive that brought her to Olympia and her current role.
9. How do you foster innovation or creativity within your team?
She encourages open communication and curiosity: “No question is a dumb question.” Symone makes sure her team feels comfortable asking—even if it’s the same question twice—because clarity leads to confidence.
10. What’s one challenge you’ve overcome that shaped your career?
Imposter syndrome. Managing people older than her and sitting at tables where she was the youngest was intimidating. Through persistence and exposure, Symone built confidence and embraced her leadership role.
