  • Michelle Gipson, Conversation Starter, Program Director, YMCA, Board Member, North Thurston Public Schools

Michelle Gipson will share her perspective on the intersection of K-12 education and public policy, drawing on her deep experience as a community leader, parent, and advocate for students.

Michelle has lived in the North Thurston Public Schools (NTPS) community for 25 years, raising five children who all attended NTPS schools. 

  • Career Readiness in K–12: What Employers Should Know- Troy Oliver, Superintendent, North Thurston Public Schools

Superintendent Oliver will highlight how K–12 is preparing students for the workforce and how businesses can engage through work-based learning, student-run enterprises, and career pathway partnerships.

  • Developing Talent Pipelines In Higher Education- Dr. Timothy Stokes, President & CEO, South Puget Sound Community College

Dr. Stokes will share how higher education supports workforce development through customized training, employer engagement, and its programs connecting students to career pathways.

Keynote: Building the Future: How Industry - Education Partnerships Close Workforce Gaps - Jon Girod, Founder & CEO, Quail Homes and Founder, Careers in Construction NW 

  • This year's keynote speaker is Jon Girod, Founder & CEO of Quail Homes and Founder of Careers in Construction NW. With over 30 years in construction and community development, Girod has led innovative partnerships between businesses and schools, creating hands-on training opportunities and clear career pathways into the skilled trades. He will share proven strategies for closing workforce gaps, building strong education-employer collaborations, and developing a roadmap for workforce success.
