The Tumwater City Council, serving as the Tumwater Transportation Benefit District Board, is seeking members to serve on one of two committees: one to advocate approval of, and one to advocate rejection of, the following proposition, scheduled for the April 28, 2015, special election:
- Tumwater Transportation Benefit District
- Sales and Use Tax for Transportation Improvements
Shall the Tumwater Transportation Benefit District (TBD) be authorized to impose an increase to the local sales and use tax in the amount of two-tenths of one percent for a period of ten years to fund street improvement projects within the boundaries of the district, which is the same as the City of Tumwater jurisdictional boundaries?
Interested individuals should submit a letter of interest that includes their name, address, telephone number, and email address to the City of Tumwater, Attn: City Clerk – TBD Proposition 1, 555 Israel Rd SW, Tumwater WA 98501. Individuals must also indicate their support of or opposition to the proposition and why they are interested in being a committee member. Letters of interest may be submitted via email to: mvaliant@ci.tumwater.wa.us, by fax to 360-754-4138, or by mail to the above street address. Letters of interest must be received by the City, regardless of the method of submittal, not later than 5:00 p.m., February 27, 2015.
No more than three persons may be appointed to each committee by the TBD Board. Each committee will be responsible for writing statements that will appear in the local voters’ pamphlet (maximum of 250 words) related to the sales and use tax increase. The TBD Board anticipates appointing members during the March 3, 2015, special meeting. Statements for the voters’ pamphlet are due to the Thurston County Auditor by March 18, 2015.
