May 14, 2014- In an ongoing effort to provide better value to their customers, the Trading Post Stores, owned and operated by the Squaxin Island Tribe, are launching their new discount club program on June 2nd. Trading Post Rewards will offer customers great savings on fuel, special pricing on merchandise, and points earned on most purchases in the store. “We wanted this program to have significant value and be convenient for our customers.” Said Kelly Croman, CEO of Island Enterprises, Inc., the economic development arm of the Tribe.
Discounts are easy to redeem, it just takes a simple swipe of your rewards card to start saving more. The program also comes with the addition of a new website tradingpostrewards.com where customers register, check point balances and view participating locations.
Operating under tax compacts with the state for both fuel and cigarettes, tribal sales are taxed at the same rate as at non-tribal stores, so the Tribe’s stores have had to change their business model to stay competitive. “In order to thrive in this economy, you have to offer customers more reasons to shop with you.” Said Croman. The Tribe still prides itself on offering discount tobacco and great prices on fuel, and has added exciting new products.
The Trading Post Stores are focused more on the customer now than ever. New counter tops, paint, digital signage, custom coffee bar, F’Real milkshake and Coca-Cola Freestyle Machines have been added to their flagship store Kamilche Trading Post (KTP) by the request of their customers. KTP recently announced the addition of Las Palmas Express serving fresh Mexican fare daily by award winning local restaurant entrepreneurs Miguel and Monica Ramos. Owners of Taqueria Las Palmas located in downtown Shelton, the Ramos family has had a long standing reputation in the area for their authentic Mexican dishes and are now offering their most popular menu items at KTP.
Owned and operated by the Squaxin Island Tribe, the Trading Post Stores are known for their wide selection of outlet priced tobacco and everyday low prices on fuel. The Trading Post Stores include the newly opened Steamboat Trading Post (STP) in Thurston County, the Kamilche Trading Post and KTP Express located across from Little Creek Casino Resort in Mason County. In addition to gasoline and diesel, ethanol-free fuel is available at STP and KTP Express. Proceeds from these stores fund a wide array of tribal programs and services that directly benefit Tribal members and the surrounding community, including transportation projects funded with fuel tax revenues.
