If you plan on running for office in 2020, Candidate Filing week is May 11 – 15. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Auditor’s Office will remain closed to the public. We are serving our customers virtually offering a convenient online filing option.
Candidates can file for office using one of these options:
- File online at VoteWA.gov (credit cards accepted).
- Complete your declaration of candidacy and deposit it in our courthouse ballot drop box (checks accepted).
- PCO filings require no filing fee. You can file online or email your declaration to elections@co.thurston.wa.us
- Mail your candidate filing to our office:

All candidate filings and filing fees must be received by 4:30 pm Friday, May 15.
Candidates with questions, needing accessibility, or to drop off a filing fee petition may contact the Auditor’s office to schedule an appointment.
Filing fees vary for each elected position. You can find filing fees for each position at ThurstonVotes.org. There is no filing fee for Precinct Committee Officers.
The order of candidates on the ballot will be determined by random lot draw after 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 15.
