To celebrate Math Awareness Month in April, the Thurston County Chamber invites students in the Olympia, Tumwater, Griffin, Yelm and North Thurston school districts to participate in the 10th annual “Math Scavenger Hunt” for a chance to win prizes.
Participating students visit local Chamber member businesses and learn how they use math in their workplace. Students are asked a series of math questions by the business and after students visit five businesses they qualify to win prizes.
Wondering how to participate? First, see your school for a Math for Life map detailing out the participating businesses and their hours of operation for the event. Next, select the businesses that you’d like to visit, stop by, answer a math question based on your grade level and get a signature! When you’re finished just return the map to your teacher (if it’s a math teacher) or school by April 17. Students that visit the most businesses will receive prizes!
