Several businesswomen, including the EDC’s own Washington Center for Women in Business Program Manager, Victoria Wortberg, have been invited to a hearing of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship in Washington, D.C. to discuss barriers they faced on the way to success when starting or growing a business.
At the hearing, U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell (D-WA), chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, will release a report that shows significant barriers still exist for women entrepreneurs.
“Women-owned businesses drive job growth and help grow our economy. But today, entrepreneurs face unique challenges that hinder their ability to get access to capital, receive federal contracts, and get to the business development they need,” Cantwell said. “This hearing will examine how we can ensure women-owned businesses have the tools they need to grow and create jobs.”
