Take the 2014 Thurston Solar Tour on Saturday, September 13th.
Western Washington has 15% more sunshine annually than Germany, the leading user of solar generated power in the world. Solar works here.
This year’s self-guided Thurston Solar Tour features ten sites, all within an easy drive from downtown Olympia. The “hub” for the tour is the Olympia Timberland Library. Because Olympia has over 4,000 PSE Green Power participants, PSE awarded the City a grant for the installation. At this site you can get a copy of the tour map, talk with solar specialists. Representatives from local lending institutions can provide information about easy financing.
The tour includes a variety of home, commercial and free standing installations. At each site you can talk with the owners or installers about performance and cost.
The tour is sponsored by South Sound Solar, A&R Solar, Scott Homes, Generations Credit Union, Olympia Federal Savings, itek energy, Coffee News and Color&White Printing. As well as Twin Star Credit Union, Silicon Energy and the United States Department of Agriculture.
This year’s tour organizer is the Thurston Climate Action Team (TCAT) in partnership with Solar Washington and the American Solar Energy Society.
