Famed morning radio team is now on 96.9 KAYO
Until a couple of years ago, one of the best known and loved morning radio shows in the South Sound was Big D & Bubba. Combining a fun, comfortable and very relatable morning show with great country music and artist interviews from Nashville, Big D & Bubba were a big deal in the South Sound.
In 2010 a station format changes forced them off the air. But now they are back on with South Sound’s Choice for Country – 96.9 KAYO.
“We have been dying to get back on the air in the South Sound.” Said Bubba “Teaming up with a legendary station like KAYO is going to be so much fun.”
KAYO Program Director, Ken Moultrie felt, “These guys are relatable to a soccer mom dropping off her kids or a hard working lumberjack. They cut across barriers and really have a broad based program.”
Their show debuts on KAYO the week of October 17th, 2016 from 5AM – 10AM Monday – Friday and 6A-10A Saturdays.
“At the end of the day, in a digital age, having unique personalities is very important for local radio” according to Jackson Dell Weaver, KAYO/KGY General Manager. “Pandora and Spotify can play the music…but local radio alone has personalities and engagement. We’re jazzed to have Big D & Bubba join our team.”
KAYO is owned by KGY, Inc. and is locally owned by the Kerry Family. KGY has been on the air since 1922 and owned by the Kerry’s since 1939. 95.3 KGY is focused on Thurston County with Classic Hits of the 60s & 70s while 96.9 KAYO is a regional signal branded as South Sound Country covering Thurston, Pierce, Mason, and Greys Harbor counties. www.KGYfm.com www.KAYOfm.com
