Downtown Strategy Workshop #3 is coming up Monday, June 6 at the Olympia Center. There will be an open house from 5:30-6:00 p.m., followed by workshop presentations beginning at 6:00 p.m. We will review the progress made to form the strategy and how this will guide specific actions to move downtown forward over a 6-year period. Then, there will be a visual exercise and discussion about balancing priorities: Our goals call for protection of important public views (such as from West Bay Park through downtown to Mt Rainier), and also call for more residential and commercial development in downtown. We will walk you through a visual analysis and discussion of trade-offs to better understand your priorities.
We’re looking for volunteers to help facilitate small groups at both workshops. Training will be provided. If you’re interested, please email DTS@ci.olympia.wa.us.
Free child-care is available while attending the workshop. The child must be potty-trained, and a light snack will be provided.
The Olympia Center is located at 222 Columbia Street NW in downtown Olympia.
Can’t make the workshop? An online opportunity to provide feedback on both topics will be offered in late June. Stay tuned for notice.
We are in stage two of a 5-stage process to form Olympia’s Downtown Strategy. The Downtown Strategy will identify what steps we take over the next 5-6 years to move our community’s vision and goals for downtown forward. Learn more at olympiawa.gov/DTS. Have questions? Email DTS@ci.olympia.wa.us
