Kevin Haughton, MD, has been named Physicians of Southwest Washington’s chief medical officer and medical director.
In his new role Dr. Haughton will provide medical oversight, expertise and leadership for the clinical aspects of PSW’s network operations in Thurston and Lewis counties. He also will serve as a valued communication link and identify collaborations that support PSW’s mission by working closely with fellow physicians, network practices and other partners in health delivery systems.
“Dr. Haughton brings an extensive medical background and tremendous enthusiasm to this newly-created position that will generate a fresh balance in our ongoing efforts to support the best practices in medicine for Thurston and Lewis counties,” said Gary Goin, MD, president of PSW and Olympia-area primary care physician.
Previously, Dr. Haughton served as Providence Medical Group primary care section chief and had been affiliated with Providence St. Peter Hospital in several capacities since 1995. He will continue to see patients on a part-time basis at Providence East Family Medicine.
Dr. Haughton earned his medical degree from the University of California, Irvine, College of Medicine, in 1986, and served his residency in family medicine at Mercy Medical Center in Denver, Colorado. He lives in Olympia with his family.
PSW’s medical director position was formerly held on a part-time basis by Olympia internist, Michael Herring, MD. Dr. Herring continues to serve as PSW’s assistant medical director.
