Olympia Family Theater is excited to bring this delightful, imaginative story to our Mainstage. Audiences will find this tale full of humor, original music, word play, giant puppets, and water!
In a small seaside village where men build boats and women do not, young Suzette knows she is different – she longs for the sea and believes she is meant for something greater than a life on land. One day, none of the fishermen return and Suzette is forced to do that most difficult thing – to persist, to prove herself worthy of her destiny. Loading her loved ones onto a boat she has secretly built, Suzette sets to sea.
What follows is an adventurous tale about seafaring, sea monsters, strength, self-determination, and setting things right. We’ll explore courage, community, and the possibility that sometimes it only takes the actions of a single person to change everything.
Olympia Family Theater’s production of Suzette Who Set To Sea opens Friday, March 20, 2020, and runs through April 4, 2020, and is recommended for ages 5 on up to adults. Tickets can be purchased at olyft.org or by calling the box office at 360.570.1638.
