At a special Council meeting on Dec. 15, the Olympia City Council will recognize and thank outgoing Mayor Stephen H. Buxbaum and outgoing Councilmember Steve Langer for their years of dedicated service to the City.
Buxbaum was first elected to the City Council in November 2009 and was selected by his fellow Councilmembers to serve as Mayor Pro Tem in April 2010. He was elected to a four-year term as mayor In November 2011. During his tenure, he chaired the City’s Finance Committee and the Community and Economic Renewal Committee. Buxbaum has been a champion of downtown economic development and a strong leader in addressing climate change.
Langer was appointed to the City Council in June 2010 to fill a position vacated after a resignation. In November 2011, he was elected to a four-year term on the Council. On the Council, Langer served as the chair of the Land Use and Environment Committee and the Council liaison to the LOTT Board of Directors. He has also been a passionate advocate for urban forestry.
The recognition will take place at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers at Olympia City Hall. The public is welcome to attend.
