OlyFed Receives National Recognition for Community Service

Olympia Federal Savings (OlyFed) received an honorable mention in The Independent Community Bankers of America’s (ICBA) 2021 National Community Bank Service Awards, celebrating the outstanding and creative volunteer efforts of the nation’s community banks. The $800 million‐asset bank, was one of seven banks to receive this national recognition. OlyFed was recognized for its Better Fedder program, which supports affordable housing and local nonprofits in its community.

“Our Better Fedder program is a multi‐dimensional community outreach initiative designed to improve the quality of life for people who call the South Sound home,” said Ryan Betz, VP of Marketing & Public Relations at OlyFed. “We are appreciative of this recognition, which aligns with our mission of putting people above the bottom line to improve the overall economic health and social well‐being of the community.”

Last year the bank donated more than $465,000 in grants and sponsorships to roughly 110 local nonprofits and has provided more than $14 million in affordable housing loans. These critical investments were further supported by more than 1,000 service hours from bank employees.

More than 100 community banks have been recognized by the ICBA National Community Bank Service Awards since the program’s inception in 2002. Bank technology services provider FIS, of Jacksonville, Fla., sponsored this year’s program.
