Olympia Federal Savings (OlyFed) is proud to announce it has made a $100,000 donation to Interfaith Works Unity Commons project, a five-story, new construction, affordable housing building that includes 65 permanent supportive rental housing units for people leaving homelessness and a 60-bed enhanced shelter on the ground floor.
Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI) is the owner-operator and will contract with Interfaith Works to provide supportive services throughout the building. Interfaith Works is a local leader in providing 24/7 shelter services, side-by-side advocacy support, primary care and connections to permanent housing.
“The housing challenges in our community are well-documented and we know the need for affordable options and robust social services are great, which is why OlyFed got involved and decided to support this critical project,” Lori Drummond, OlyFed President & CEO said. “For years we’ve supported Interfaith Works because of their innovative, caring and collaborative approach to serving our most vulnerable neighbors. This project further establishes the organization’s commitment to providing housing and support that puts the dignity and respect of their guests first.”
This well designed, safe, clean and accessible facility will serve those earning at our below 50% of the area median income not only with housing support, but also with comprehensive wrap-around case management services to ensure health and human needs are met. The $22 million project is located at 161 Pattison St. NE in Olympia.
“We are so grateful to the team at OlyFed for this generous gift and their partnership support, which will make a meaningful difference in our efforts to improve the quality of life for both our guests and our community,” Meg Martin, Interfaith Works, Executive Director, said. “When it comes to local businesses, they are leaders in philanthropy and their values truly match their actions.”
