On October 1st, 2014 Cares of Washington kicked off Disability Employment Awareness Month with the announcement of several activities to engage the public and raise general awareness about this under served population within our state. The month kicked off with announcement of the Cares Fall/Winter campaign, the #ChangingLives Challenge. They are asking that supporters post photos of themselves, friends, and family displaying a sign that reads “#ChangingLives, and help the organization raise additional support to further support the 1,500 families it impacts a year.
In addition to the #ChaningLives Challenge, Cares also announced partnerships with the Seattle Auto Show as well as the Seattle Thunderbirds. Both focused around the October 17th “Changing Lives” event with the Seattle Thunderbirds at the Showare Center. The Thunderbirds have graciously donated a portion of ticket sales back to the organization to further its mission.
Though this month is a great way to raise awareness for the cause it is vital that we commit to helping this population of our community throughout the year. Cares of Washington offers various ways to meet these needs such as, volunteering, planned gifts, In-kind donation, and joining our Team Cares Donor Club to name a few.
