Ralph Latza JD (CA Licensed), LLM, CPCC, CFP® joins the NR Smith team with a both a financial and legal background to help clients with their financial plans and portfolios, and to manage any tax litigation or tax controversy matters.
Ralph believes the best way to help people make smart financial and life decisions is by knowing who they are and what they want. His work spans across clients of all ages, as he has dealt with those in the wealth distribution stage, as well as those building wealth through stock options and career advancement.
Ralph offers the logic and problem-solving skills from his years as an experienced trial lawyer and tax practitioner. He is still licensed in California as a lawyer and remains current on matters related to tax litigation and tax controversy. To this end, Ralph completed his LL.M. in taxation in 2004.
Ralph’s entry to the world of financial planning was driven by his desire for deeper, ongoing relationships with clients. Ralph became a Certified Financial Planner and a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC). He has facilitated conversations with clients and their families across generations creating an atmosphere of trust and shared values. Ralph’s approach of active listening, helping clients articulate goals, and facilitating conversations has led him to better serve his clients as they discover their “aha” moments.
Ralph has been an active member of the Financial Planning Association. In San Francisco (FPASF) his leadership and involvement helped create a vibrant and dynamic chapter, as he became the acting President in 2011 and Chair in 2012. In 2015 the FPASF awarded Ralph the Heart of Financial Planning Award, the highest honor for the chapter.
