Thurston County has never seen anything like this before. A new on-demand food delivery service, PugetSound2Go, offers restaurant delivery to your home or office – in under an hour. You can order breakfast, lunch, dinner, coffee or even cupcakes, with a delivery fee of just $4.99 from most restaurants.
Need your morning pick-me-up? Place your order for coffee or breakfast delivery as early as 7:00am.
Need a late night snack? Have your food brought to you, as late as midnight on Friday and Saturday and 10:00pm Sunday through Thursday.
Customers place their orders using the app MyTown2Go or from the website pugetsound2go.com. They simply enter their address, and a list of available restaurants appears for delivery available to your location. The full menus are available on PugetSound2Go, and the customer makes their selections. They can pay with a credit card at that point or pay with cash upon delivery.
Customers can even place their delivery orders for a future date. Imagine how helpful this would be for party planning, or even for catering orders! A customer could literally order their child’s birthday party pizza, cupcakes and more to be delivered to the party – days in advance.
PugetSound2Go is also a great tool for surprising loved ones or sending thank you gifts. Customers can have the delivery made to an address other than their own. When placing the order, there is even a field to include special instructions like “Happy Birthday Mary!”
How did this all come about? The brains behind PugetSound2Go is Ryan Lindstrom, 37, of Lacey and has lived in the Olympia area most of his life, graduated from Olympia High School class of 97. His background is in telecommunications and he has a knack for small business.
When or how did you first get the idea for PugetSound2Go?
Earlier this year (March 2016), I started working for a delivery company up in Seattle. I was residing in Thurston County, but spending a few days each week up north doing deliveries. I thought to myself while on a delivery, “Why can’t there be a service like this in Thurston County?”
I’m an entrepreneur and I own other businesses; and I like to find opportunities to improve the quality of life for the people in my community while creating wealth for myself, others and my family.
It was at that point that I decided to start doing research and see if it was possible to offer a service like this in my hometown. I started talking to managers and owners of companies that do the same type of service, and quickly found out that they have no desire to come to the smaller cities like Olympia and Tacoma. Their focus is on the bigger cities like Seattle, which told me that there was an opportunity here, and I began thinking of the possibilities.
I started looking into all the logistics to make it all work, like pieces of a puzzle. The one piece that was missing was how to make it profitable in a small community, so I started looking into other companies that provided a similar service in smaller cities.
That’s when I found MyTown2Go. Which was founded in 2015 and has opened 15 other cities across the US. And instead of recreating something on my own l, I purchased a franchise of MyTown2Go and that’s how PugetSound2Go was created.
Awesome! Are you accepting deliveries now?
Yes! August 1 we started doing deliveries. We’re currently in our soft launch, which means our app and website are live and we are accepting orders. All of August will be our soft launch, where we will only have a handful of food establishments and drivers. This gives us an opportunity to test out our system, the process, and iron out any kinks or issues that might arise.
Come September and October 2016, we will be adding 30 to 50 new restaurants that will also include chain restaurants. We also plan to have a Grand Opening celebration to signify our full launch.
Why do you think PugetSound2Go creates value for Thurston County residents?
It’s a service that offers convenience, plus provides tons more choices for food delivery than what we are used to. The reasons I’m so passionate about it are because 1), it’s providing a new service for the people in this community, and 2), it’s going to help small businesses grow. That’s one of the main reasons I’m doing this. I’m so focused on helping the locally owned small business owners that own restaurants here in town, to expand their businesses and increase sales, to help everyone here thrive. I grew up in Thurston County, and I love this community and the people in it.
We are very passionate about this opportunity and will work very hard to make this is a success for our community. We also are working on launching a program in the near future where PugetSound2Go will be giving back to a local charity that helps feed the hungry.
We also have future plans for expansion as we are already looking into expanding into Pierce County early 2017.
