OLYMPIA, WA, May 3 – Olympia Area Rowing is proud to announce June 4th is the National Learn to Row Day. In Thurston County this event is sponsored by the local rowing club, Olympia Area Rowing (OAR). Anyone interested in learning about rowing as a fun, physical activity on the water, is invited to a FREE demonstration with a short tour of the OAR boathouse, and a practice on lower Budd Inlet, with an experienced crew and instructor. We ask you to come by the OAR boathouse between 8:30 am and 3:00 pm on June 4, and register for a 1 hour scheduled time. Available time slots start at 9:00 am. You will return at your scheduled time, have a short boathouse tour, practice a bit on dry land (on an erg rowing machine), then go out on Lower Budd Inlet. You will be mixed with experienced rowers in a boat of eight, accompanied by an instructor in a launch to provide a 40 minute beginning lesson. What a great way to try something new!
The OAR Boathouse is at the Swantown Marina boat launch – Directions to the OAR Boathouse
