Attend this event to:
•Increase awareness: Further your understanding about the lack of economic security for many individuals and families in the South Sound.
•Identify barriers: This event will challenge assumptions about why economic mobility and prosperity can be so difficult to attain.
•Define prosperity: Engage in discussions about the effects poverty can have on communities and determine how we can ensure opportunity for all.
•Take action: Identity ways we can work together to improve the lives of community members.
Keynote Speaker:
Dr. Donna M. Beegle inspires and educates individuals, organizations, politicians and entire communities with proven models to improve outcomes for people in poverty. Born into a migrant labor family and married at 15, Dr. Beegle is the only member of her family who has not been incarcerated. By age 24, she earned her GED and then, within 10 years, received her doctorate in Educational Leadership. She is an authentic voice from poverty, who speaks, writes and trains across the nation to break the cycle of poverty for others through services provided by her company, Communications Across Barriers.
Who Should Attend: Business leaders, elected officials, health care agency leaders and staff, faith leaders, academics, government agency staff, social service providers, and anyone else who wants to learn about the realities of living in poverty and explore how we can strengthen our community.
