Local Businessman Elected to Lead Olympia Host Lions

Bill Yount, owner of Bill Yount Insurance at 1851 State Avenue NE in Olympia, has been
elected president of the Olympia Host Lions Club for the 2024/25 Lions year. 
Yount takes over as president from Andrew Beattie, Executive Associate at The
Evergreen State College and will be assisted by Vice President Erik Johnson, owner of
Olympia Computer.


Yount will be heading up a 70-member club that has been serving the greater Olympia
area since 1935.  Early projects included Lions Park and the area’s first newspaper
recycling program. 


Today, the Olympia Host Lions Club runs the Lions Low Vision Resource Center on
Martin Way manages a city-wide plastic film recycling program involving a number of
local businesses and provides vision screening in local schools.  The club
also supports Camp Leo for children with diabetes, local food banks, and the annual
walk to end Alzheimer’s disease. Other projects involve the environment, youth and
international humanitarian efforts – one popular project this time of year is the Lions
Sensory Garden at the Port of Olympia.
