Harlequin Productions is proud to announce that registration is open for the Teen Shakespeare Conservatory. Harlequin is committed to strengthening the foundation of artistic education by creating artistic opportunities for the community as well as the next generation of actors interested in pursuing a career in theatre.
The program is open to students between the ages of 14 -18 and is designed for those interested in learning the fundamentals of performing Shakespeare. The class is appropriate for students of all abilities and experience levels. In an exciting new collaboration, Harlequin Production and local Shakespearean company Animal Fire Theatre will partner to include several days of professional mentorship from the cast and crew of Animal Fire Theatre’s production of The Merry Wives of Windsor, running June 28th to July 21st, 2019 in Priest Point Park.
The Teen Shakespeare Conservatory will provide an intensive, advanced exploration into the study of theatre and the performance of the works of William Shakespeare. Students will receive training in Acting, Voice and Diction, Movement, Scene Study, and Stage Combat. The Conservatory runs from June 24 – July 24, 2019, Monday – Friday, from 12-4pm. Class size is limited to 20 students. Tuition is $500 with a limited number of partial and full scholarships available. The class will culminate in an hour-long outdoor performance in Priest Point Park, where students will showcase their skills by performing Folger Shakespeare Library 30-minute versions of The Merry Wives of Windsor and Macbeth.
