Get Ready to Hootenanny with the Thurston EDC

On July 22, the Thurston Economic Development Council (EDC) invites the community to join them for an old fashioned BBQ & Hootenanny! That’s right – delicious food, drinks, hay bales, a Cornhole Tournament, Bluegrass music with the Oly Mountain Boys, and a few surprises.

“This year at the EDC, we are doing things differently—instead of our more formal Gala and Business Awards event, we’re throwing a BBQ with music and fun. We will give out awards, but this year, we’re awarding businesses that have shown ‘Economic Courage’ in overcoming the tremendous obstacles the pandemic has thrown their way,” said Michael Cade, Executive Director.

Cade explained that Economic Courage awards will go to businesses who have shown creativity, tenacity and grit overcoming the challenges of 2020 and anyone may nominate a business here.

The event will take place outside at the Thurston EDC in Lacey. The EDC invites guests to wear their casual workwear, boots, jeans and gingham and bring their trials and tribulations to share with peers and friends. The EDC will supply the BBQ (for carnivores and vegans) as well as libations.
