The Fiske Guide to Colleges 2015 “Best Buy” list highlights 44 colleges and universities in the U.S., Canada, and Britain that offer the “best education at the most reasonable costs.”
(Olympia, Wash.) The Evergreen State College in Olympia is one of just 44 institutions named a 2015 Fiske Best Buy School. The designation recognizes institutions in the U.S., Canada, and Britain that offer “the best education at the most reasonable costs.” Evergreen is the only college or university in the Pacific Northwest, and the only public institution on the West Coast, included on the list.
The Fiske Guide to Colleges, a popular college guide created by former New York Times education editor, Edward B. Fiske, highlights about 300 top institutions each year. It examines a range of factors including student body, academics, social life, financial aid, campus setting, housing, food, and extracurricular activities. The guide chooses a select group of schools from among those ranks, noted for quality academic offerings and affordable cost, for its annual Best Buy list. This year’s Best Buy list is comprised of 22 public and 22 private colleges and universities in the U.S., Canada, and Britain.
The Evergreen State College is a nationally acclaimed public liberal arts and sciences college known for academic excellence, value, and a distinctive interdisciplinary, student-centered approach to education. The college has been a Fiske “Best Buy” every year since 2010.
