FirstLight HomeCare South Sound announced today Stephanie Brooks has been honored as the “FirstLight Caregiver of the Month.”
“Stephanie is reliable, well-liked by our clients and is always offering to fill in and help out whenever she can,” said Sarah Lane, owner of FirstLight HomeCare – South Sound. Each month, Lane recognizes one of her caregivers as part of her employee recognition program.
“The clients Stephanie cares for just love her because she is so attentive and conscientious, and she works extremely hard,” said Lane. “She is very deserving of this month’s award and I’m proud to have her on our team.”
Brooks has been a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) for three years and enjoys being a caregiver.
“My favorite part is being able to brighten their days,” she said of her clients. “I like taking care of people and making a positive difference in people’s lives.”
Brooks grew up in Elma and recently moved back to the South Sound from Idaho. Though not yet even 30 years old, since leaving Elma after high school, Brooks has lived in all 48 states in the continental United States.
“I’ve travelled a lot and the only states I haven’t lived in are Alaska and Hawaii,” she explained, saying her favorite places outside Washington were Boston, Mass. and the Rocky Mountain states of Colorado, Wyoming and Montana.
Brooks, who also enjoys playing golf, hiking and reading, said she believes FirstLight is unique among home care agencies.
“Sarah genuinely cares about both her clients and her caregivers – and that’s very rare,” said Brooks of FirstLight HomeCare owner Lane. “My experience is that owners care about one or the other, or neither. But Sarah goes out of her way to make sure the best match is made, which ensures clients get the best care. And that makes a big difference!”
