In collaboration with the Economic Development Council (EDC), the City has invited about 40 members of the local business and real estate development community to participate in a roundtable discussion specific to the City’s efforts to craft and implement a Downtown Strategy. The aim is to gather specific information about business and development challenges and opportunities relative to the priorities being shaped through the larger, ongoing public process to forum Olympia’s Downtown Strategy. The EDC staff will be facilitating the discussion and will be focused on pulling out concrete examples and strategies to attract and guide new investment, and redevelopment efforts.
The forum will be held Thursday, April 28 at 6:00 pm at City Hall, 601 4th Ave East. The public is welcome to attend to observe and hear the discussion. There will not be time for public comment at the event.
Our community’s vision is for Downtown Olympia to be a more vibrant and attractive regional destination with ample recreation, commerce, employment and residential options. Olympia’s Downtown Strategy will outline a guiding framework for downtown along with realistic and impactful steps to move this vision forward. The City recognizes that most of the changes that will occur in downtown will happen through private sector investment. Thus, the City aims to better align efforts to achieve community goals for downtown with the issues, opportunities and challenges facing the business and development community.
