Tart Cider originated in 2016 and Kyle bought in March, 2022

Founded in 2016 Tart Cider was purchased by Kyle Hillman in March of 2022 after a long love of taprooms and their electric environments. This Tumwater taproom offers a variety of interesting hard ciders and a fun environment to enjoy your beverages and play games.

Recently, Tart Cider underwent a rebranding and now operates under the name Chapman Cider. He wanted to name the taproom after Johnny Appleseed and incorporate his name Chapman into the title. As a fun Easter egg, their wolf mascot is a callback to the legend of an injured wolf that Johnny Appleseed helped to heal back to health.

With a small but mighty team of three, Kyle is not only the owner but also wears many hats to keep the operation running smoothly. Don’t be surprised if you see him bartending, making deliveries, jumping on sales calls, and posting to social media. When asked what his favorite part of his job is, he explained, “I love the look on people’s faces when they taste our cider for the first time!” There are currently 12 flavors on tap, including, POG (passion fruit orange and guava), Tumwater Tea (A take on an Arnold palmer), and Mojito.

Not only can you enjoy delicious hard cider but Chapman Cider offers a unique environment where you and your friends and family can play countless board games. The best part? You can bring your own food to enjoy while you play.

Don’t miss their Artvana nights where they host paint and sip events in the taproom. Chapman also hosts a bingo night once a month on Thursdays from 6pm-8pm. Win prizes, free drinks, full growlers, and even a free custom glass making session. Bingo is always FREE to play.
