Change is in the air for Trinity Massage and Wellness Center, which has both a new owner and a new location. Massage Therapist Donna Hammers has transitioned from practitioner to owner/operator and the Center has moved from its former home in Lacey to 3700 Martin Way East, Suite 108 in Olympia. Hammers, who has twenty years of experience and training in various styles of massage, says the goal is “delivering services that people need with the best quality. We have a really great team of seven therapists and four hair stylists.”
Hammers is a graduate of Enterprise for Equity, a South Sound program that provides training and support for limited-income people striving to become entrepreneurs. “I’ve been a sole proprietor since 2005,” she says. After moving in and out of subcontractor roles, she was inspired to take on more responsibility after being approached by Trinity’s previous owner. “The opportunity was really ripe,” she says. “The business didn’t have an owner/operator who was there consistently.I’ve worked with many of these people for two to four years and I’ve got a longstanding relationship with them.”
All of those practitioners are women, a fact that Hammers believes contributes to a community feeling. “We’re very hands-on and relationship-based with all of our clients,” she says. “It’s like a family. We’ve created an environment so that it doesn’t feel like you’ve walked into a medical clinic. It feels like you’ve walked into your best friend’s house to be taken care of and loved on and to get what you need.”
In addition to her leadership role, Hammers continues to specialize in Lomi Lomi massage, which she discovered after graduating with honors from Seattle Massage School. Over the past ten years, she has done over a thousand hours of training in Lomi Lomi, including a year long course and regular retreats. The multidimensional aspect of the practice appeals to her. “It’s not just the physical manipulation,” she says. “Lomi Lomi has this really strong spiritual foundation, the energetic component of ‘Where does illness start from?’”
The Center opened its doors at the new location on September 1st, and a grand opening is tentatively scheduled for October 30th. “We want to get a bit more settled,” says Hammers. Trinity Massage and Wellness Center and Salon Cielo provide quality services to clients throughout Thurston County and beyond.
