Olympia Loves Trees!
Trees and forests contribute to the aesthetics, environmental health, and identity of Olympia. Come celebrate the City’s 26th year as a Tree City USA at Percival Landing. The Celebration includes a hands-on pruning workshop, a self-guided shoreline native plant walk, music by the Artesian Rumble Arkestra, ceremonial shade tree planting, and kids activities. 2019 Arbor Day Events
Olympia’s Arbor Day festivities will take place Saturday, March 23, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Percival Landing Park,217 Thurston Ave NW, Olympia.
Meet at the shelter over the water for all events.
Self-guided Shoreline Native Plant Walk: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Learn about native plants along the shoreline at the park with a self-guided tour.
Proper Pruning Workshop: 10 a.m.
Learn proper pruning techniques to improve plant health with a skilled professional from the State Department of Natural Resources Urban and Community Forestry.
Hands-on demonstrations held nearby in the park.
Live Music: 11:15 a.m.
Come hear Olympia Favorites, the Artesian Rumble Arkestra, play an hour of live music!
Arbor Day Celebration: 12:30 p.m.
Join us for our annual celebration of Arbor Day featuring the Tree City USA presentation, Arbor Day Proclamation and Jay Butz Friends of Trees Award presentation.
Light refreshments will be provided.
Ceremonial Tree Planting 1 p.m.
Join us in planting a new tree near the playground that will provide shade for families during hot summer days.
Downtown Olympia Street Tree Tour 1:30 p.m.
Join former Olympia Urban Forester Joe Roush on a tour looking at the street trees of Downtown Olympia. Everything you have ever wanted to know about downtown tree species, varieties and what makes a tree a good fit for planting in urban areas.
