Olympia, WA: Nathaniel Jones, Olympia’s Mayor Pro Tem, announced on October 8, 2015 that he is forming an exploratory committee to consider a 2016 run for the State House of Representatives from the 22nd District, which includes most of Thurston County. Recent announcements from State Representatives Chris Reykdal and Sam Hunt have created openings in both of the 22nd District’s House seats. Jones indicated that he has not yet decided whether to run, saying “More than ever, our district needs strong representation in the legislature.”
Jones, 60, has served as Olympia’s Mayor Pro Tem since being elected to the City Council in 2011. He is currently running unopposed for reelection to the Olympia City Council on the November 3rd ballot. Jones is employed by the Department of Enterprise Services, where he manages the infrastructure of the State Capitol Campus.
