Reunions Unlimited is an event management company providing services for reunions in Washington as well as across the country. In their 16 years of business they have have changed their efforts to be more green as the years have past.
They set up everything for their clients from the table decorations to the name tags for each guest. In the “old” days they used plastic name tags and now they use biodegradeable…5,000 of them per year!
Carol Riley, with Reunions Unlimited says, “We dress up tables with colorful candies for guests, doubling their use as decorations and treats for guests, making them cost effective AND earth friendly. We recycle decorations such as pom poms and megaphones, using some of them for 15 years!
Mailings used to be envelopes, internal information and a mail-back envelope. To accomplish the same job, they now use postcards and the internet. “We save on printing, paper, postage and most certainly, our budget!”
In addition, Reunions Unlimited is very clear on the basic recycling that we all can do with packaging, paper, plastic, etc. as well as saving when lights and computers are tuned off when not in use. When printing is needed they print double sided when possible, and when a one-sided page of information is no longer of any use, they print on the blank side for internal use.
Their sales kit is internet driven. When they have a potential client on the telephone they ask, “Would you like to be green?” If the answer is yes, it’s all done by digital means.
And now Carol asks, “ How can I help my vendors be green?”
