Small businesses, entrepreneurs, startups: This one’s for you. Are you looking to change the world of retail? Have you created the next best idea that could be tested during one of most highly-trafficked shopping times of the year? Then step up and participate in Capital Mall’s Battle of the Pop-Up challenge; the new ‘Battle’ is taking applications now through Friday, July 20.
Capital Mall serves its Puget Sound community and visitors to the area with an expansive mix of offerings ranging from healthy, organic dining options at Rocket Raw to global inspirations from retailers like Cost Plus World Market. Just this last year, H&M and BoxLunch opened their doors with Stack 571 Burger & Whiskey Bar up next. Another new, innovative addition to the center would be a natural fit for not only the new business owner but the guests that rely on Capital for their day-to-day needs.
“We’re so pleased to offer this contest; it’s a great jumping off point for area entrepreneurs who have an idea they’d like to try,” said Stefanie Muegel, Capital Mall’s marketing director. “The Battle of the Pop-Up prize package is valued at up to $25,000 and includes signage, visual merchandising and fixtures in addition to free space at a kiosk or storefront, whichever makes the most sense for the winner.”
The contest asks area entrepreneurs to submit plans and concepts for fresh, innovative ideas. In addition to free rent, the winner also receives a $500 merchandising package from the center that includes interior signage, table-printed displays, and graphic design services.
To enter, participants must be prepared to obtain a business license before November 1, 2018, and operate their store during mall hours from November 1, 2018, through April 20, 2019. Entries will be judged on business strategy, concept creativity, and the likelihood of profitability among other criteria. The deadline for entries is July 20, 2018. There is no cost to enter.
