In 1999, Congress officially designated May as Military Appreciation Month so Americans remember and honor those who have sacrificed and served in the military. May also includes Military Spouse Appreciation Day and Armed Forces Day.
This spring, Capital Mall is asking the Olympia community to contribute photos of community members and their family, friends and loved ones who have served or who are currently serving in the U.S. military. Locals can submit their photos by dropping them off at the Capital Mall management office or by emailing them to email@example.com with a description of the photo subject’s service. All photos will be added to The Military Appreciation Exhibit that will highlight the region’s men and women who have served in the military. The exhibit will be open from Saturday, May 19 through Thursday, June 14.
“We are deeply indebted to all our servicemen and servicewomen who have served in the U.S. military and who are doing so today,” said Kevin Johnston, Capital Mall’s general manager. “The photos we collect will be used to create a gallery display to show how much our community, and Capital Mall, appreciates and honors those who serve and have served.”
In addition to photos collected this year, the property will incorporate images from last year’s Military Appreciation Exhibition.
